Each spring the Samaritans — one of the world's smallest and oldest religious communities, fewer than a thousand people — gather on Mount Gerizim above Nablus in the West Bank to sacrifice lambs at dusk and share a midnight meal, opening a week-long Festival of Unleavened Bread. The Samaritan calendar can fall a month later than the Jewish one, so this date is provisional until the community confirms it.
